When you publish your book and you want to make an income off your writing, it’s important that you get your work out there and find ways to increase your chances of sales. So I wanted to offer a few quick tips on how to get more sales, and coming up in the next couple of weeks I will be offering a list of more (less detailed) ideas to increase chances of getting your work out there and that should help increase sales.

Make sure it is on Amazon
Should I even have to say this? Sadly I do.

Price it right
Price is one of the biggest things that you have to think about. So many authors don’t put enough thought into what they price their work- and so many authors over price their work- remember, no one will want to pay $6 for an Ebook when they can pay $8 for a paperback!

And something I find a lot of UK authors tend to do (and some US ones) is not pay enough attention to what you price your book at in other countries. For example, I had a UK friend self-publish a book that was just under novel length and priced it at $6 CAD, without even realizing how much it was until I brought it up to her!

Write more
The more you have out there the more you can promote, the more people will see, the more people will buy. So on and so forth; you get the idea.

Get your work out there
The number one thing you can do to increase your chances of getting more sales is to get your work out in front of people! This means reviews, excerpts, interviews, do readings, talking about it to friends, hell make post cards and send them out if you have to!
