Here’s the next post in the series of writing prompts. I hope these help to get the creative juices flowing.
Writing prompts:
- In an alternate history story, airplanes (of a sort) were invented and perfected centuries before electricity and the telephone.
- Three people meet in a train car. One of them is pretending to be someone else, while another hopes that nobody looks at her. The third person wishes he could be anywhere but there. Explain why.
- A bankrupt circus troupe continues performing while its owner considers when to dissolve the company. Have him suddenly realize their newest juggler is the answer to all his problems.
For a list of 1,000 writing prompts just like this, check out my book, The Idea Factory: 1,000 Story Ideas and Writing Prompts to Find Your Next Bestseller.
Ryan: Thank you for writing The Idea Factory. I purchased it early this morning (3 am) and started reading it. I did not want to put it down! I fell asleep anyway. It is exciting–the ideas most certainly will sweep away the cobwebs for me and anyone still alive–no doubt about it. Keep up the good work!

I love the train one! It sounds fun (then again, they all do!) It must be entertaining coming up with these prompts too- plus they’re great tools for writers.
Thanks for sharing! Keep it up!
