One by one, the knights saw sense and knelt, drawing their swords and placing them in front of them. The defrocked monks moved swiftly among them, confiscating the swords, and herding the squires and mercenaries into a corner. Henri felt his own sword belt being loosened and removed, and only then did the dagger withdraw and the pain in his shoulder lessen.
